Congress of Alicante on Education and Migrations

On November 19-20-21, 2009 the MEDEA joined the European Movement International and the Library of Alexandria to organize a Congress in Alicante on the themes of Education and Migration in the Dialogue South-North Mediterranean.

This dialogue was initiated in 2006 in Algiers and had developed the general themes to be addressed in the relations between civil societies from South and North of the Mediterranean. The Congress in Alicante addressed the first component from it.

During the three days of the Congress, participants shared their visions and their questions on Education and Migration. Discussions in Friday’s workshops were dynamic and fruitful, as can attest the final declaration of the Congress (soon available). It primarily lists a series of recommendations from civil society meant to inspire future policies in this area.

Saturday, November 21, many policy makers from North and South Mediterranean were present to hear the results of the discussions and to dialogue with the participants.
