Unlike Saudi Arabia, locked into its hostility toward Iran, Oman has always been able to maintain good neighboring policy with the Islamic Republic. While Riyadh sees Shia Iran as a dangerous political and religious rival to its own hegemony in the Gulf, Muscat sees it as a natural  and necessary partner for regional stability with whom  cooperation is needed.

At the moment, the Turkish border, already the scene of crucial developments because of crossings of refugees, militants, arms and ammunition as well as traditional smugglers, had become even more volatile because of the clashes between the Islamic Front and the al-Qaeda-affiliated Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS).

According to the paperwork, called the Solutions and Guarantees Document, the NDC extended President Abdu Rabu Mansour Hadi’s term in office for one year. The conference also approved federalism as Yemen’s new state structure.

Three separate bomb attacks took place in Greater Cairo on Friday morning, killing at least five people and injuring dozens of others, on the eve of the anniversary of the 2011 uprising that toppled Hosni Mubarak.
