Assemblée des Citoyens et Citoyennes de la Méditerranée – from the 13th until the 16th november in Marseille
For the fifth consecutive meeting, l’Assemblée des Citoyens et Citoyennes de la Méditerranée (ACM) will meet in Marseille, France, from the 13th until the 16th november 2014, on the issue: « Citizenship and the construction of a Mediterranean community of people ».
The ACM, the citizen network that has committed to work towards the emergence of a Mediterranean community of peoples, has previously emphazed the urgent need to create a political space in which the Mediterranean citizenship can be expressed, grow and flourish. This idea was the salient feature of the previous meetings organized in Valencia (Spain, 2010), Tunis (Tunisia, 2011), Volos (Greece, 2012) and Istanbul (Turkey, 2013).
This fifth meeting of the ACM will bring together 150 citizens stemming from all the Mediterranean countries, just as representatives from diverse institutions and entities that are present in the Mediterranean. The agoras will make it possible to discuss the challenges for the political, economical, social and cultural integration in the Mediterranean and the perspectives of the citizens, which should be consolidated in order to contribute to the better future of the region.
