Midi Med: 9 novembre 2016
The EU Global Strategy on Foreign and Security Policy and the Mediterranean
Wednesday November 9, from 12.30 till 14.00
MEDEA Institute, in cooperation with the European Movement Belgium
are pleased to invite you to a Lunch-debate with
Erwan Lannon, Professor at Ghent University and College of Europe.
The adoption, in June 2016, of the EU Global Strategy (EUGS) on Foreign and Security Policy is of major importance for the Mediterranean area. One of the five priorities identified for the future EU’s external actions being: “investing in the resilience of states and societies to our East and South”. The EUGS new strategic vision must now be translated into concrete policy initiatives and actions.
The conference will first put the EUGS into context in order to understand its importance and potential implications for the Mediterranean. It will then concentrate on the more concrete elements devoted to the European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP) at large and on the proposals made in the EU Global Strategy on “A Peaceful and Prosperous Mediterranean, Middle East and Africa”.
