RCD (Constitutional Union for Democracy) (Tunisia)
The RCD is the main political party in Tunisia. After the elections of March 1994 it got 144 seats of the 163 in the Tunisian parliament. It has a center left profile. It was formerly called "Parti Socialiste Destourien" but the name was changed in February 1988 after the sacking of President Bourguiba.
The RCD is chaired by Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali who is also President of the Republic.
