ALGERIA 1991 legislative elections, first round results
The results of the first round of voting, clearly won by the fundamentalist Islamic Salvation front were annulled and the Constitution was suspended the following month. In April 1992,
an advisory body on legislation -the National Consultative Council- was set up. It lasted until the National Transitional Council was inaugurated in 1994 for the three-year transitional period. The next elections took place in June 1997. The FIS was barred from running.
FIS, Front Islamique de Salut 188 deputies elected on a total of 430 seats
FFS, Front des Forces Socialistes 25 deputies elected on a total of 430 seats
FLN, Front de Libération Nationale 15 deputies elected on a total of 430 seats
RCD, Rassemblement pour la Culture et la Démocratie no members elected (although it obtained a good result in the municipal elections of June 1990).
